Spring Break 2019 Hours and Programs

All programs are subject to capacity limits. Twilight Programs & Star Parties typically sell out and our Daytime Programs frequently sell out during busy periods like Spring Break. To ensure program participation, make advance reservations using the online system below.

Spring Break for most Texas schools in 2019 is March 9-23. To accommodate the much larger than usual crowds we see during this peak period, the Frank Bash Visitors Center will be offering additional Guided Tours, Solar Viewings, Twilight Programs, and Star Parties for this week only. Please note that the Guided Tours, Solar Viewings, Twilight Programs, and Star Parties are separate programs. The content of one is not included in the others. Signing up for one program does NOT entitle you to participate in another. Sign up for each program you plan to attend. While the Guided Tours and Solar Viewings have a combined pass much of year, to accommodate the much larger Spring Break crowds, these programs are separated during the week of Spring Break. To do both programs, sign up for each individually. Both Solar Viewings and Guided Tours begin at the Visitors Center during Spring Break. If your plans call for joining a Tour prior to a Solar Viewing, please allow 10-15 minutes to travel from the Tour ending location back to the Visitors Center. For more detailed descriptions of the our Spring Break programs, click here.

Prices listed below for Twilight Programs and Star Parties are for online reservations only - on the rare occasions when they might be available, prices for Twilight Programs and Star Parties are higher for passes purchased in person at the Visitors Center. The prices listed for Spring Break Solar Viewings and Guided Tours are the same whether purchased online or in person at the Visitors Center. As with any busy time, Guided Tours, Solar Viewings, Twilight Programs, and Star Parties can sell out weeks before Spring Break. The best time to make your programs reservations is when you're making your lodging & plans.

We're open every day from 10 AM - 5:30 PM and on Star Party nights, 10 AM through the end of Star Party (March 9-23, 2019 only).

All of the information on this page is valid only for the week of March 9-23, 2019. Please stop at The Frank Bash Visitors Center for more information.

Self Guided Tours of the Hobby-Eberly Telescope are available every day from 10 AM - 5 PM
